Love Kids; Drive Rigor

Welcome to the 2023-2024 school year! We are excited for the many opportunities that we have to connect with our students every day and to facilitate their mental, physical, and emotional growth. In addition, we look forward to connecting with our parents and growing our relationships in order to support our families. At CHS, our decisions and our actions are guided by our Motto that you see at the beginning of this welcome message.

There is so much meaning in this motto and it is a blessing to serve in a district that focuses on ALL kids and embraces the opportunities that we have to support every kid. What do we mean by “Love Kids” and “Drive Rigor”? The following principles are the foundation for our motto. 

Love Kids

We will build every student’s potential with respect, support, guidance, and encouragement. 

Drive Rigor

We will maximize every student's potential, stretch their thinking, and challenge students in diverse and interesting ways.

Loving kids and driving rigor calls for us to take kids as they are, develop positive and meaningful relationships with them, and then focus on getting them to live to their maximum potential. We will partner with our parents to love and grow our kids in order to ensure that each of them graduates from CHS ready to work, create, and build their future. In order to live our motto, we have established clear expectations to do the following at superior levels that we demand of ourselves and that our community expects from us. 

• Lock arm-in-arm with our parents to support our families and to create positive, nurturing relationships.

• Increase Academic, Athletic, Career & Technology (CTE) , and Fine Arts achievements.

• Collaborate with our students, staff, and families to create a unique future for Celina High School. 

• Provide whatever is necessary to our teachers and staff so that barriers are removed and we are able to go all-in every day, for every kid.

• Designate time during the school day where our teachers collaborate in their subject teams (we call these Design Teams) in order to create engaging and rigorous learning opportunities for our students, assess the progress our students are making towards mastery of their learning, and make necessary adjustments to the lessons in order for students to reach mastery.

Thank you for entrusting us with your precious child(ren) every day. Serving as the principal of this incredible learning institution is an honor of the highest order and it is my distinct privilege.
