Superintendent Report

Superintendent of Schools Dr. Tom Maglisceau presented a district update, highlighting recent events that helped welcome the community back to school, including the Bobcat Tailgate, Convocation, and the annual New Staff Lunch. Since this time last year, CISD has welcomed more than 240 new staff members and over 1,000 new students to the district.

Construction Report

Director of Construction and Facilities Planning David Fink provided an update on construction at Scott Elementary, Grumbles Elementary, and Calvert Elementary. All three campuses are slated to open for the 2027-28 school year. The district celebrated the fact that CISD opened 233,000 additional square feet at the high school in the new Academic wing, as well as 205,000 square feet at Willard Middle School.

Professional Learning Update

Professional Learning Coordinator Catherine Gregory shared an update related to professional learning in CISD, including a report on summer learning at Curriculum Camp, where 435 staff members engaged in learning, new staff orientation, and Back-to-School Inservice. She also gave an update on growing campus and district leaders through efforts such as Inside Celina and teacher fellowship.

Action Agenda Items

Consider and Approve Purchase of Attendance Credit Agreement

Chief Business Officer Dr. Melissa Kelly discussed Chapter 48 and 49 funding, which designates the method the district pays the state back for the CISD recapture payment. The Board unanimously approved the agreement.

Consider and Approve October Board Meeting Date Adjustment

Board President Kelly Juergens discussed the adjustment of the October meeting date to allow Dr. Maglisceau to attend the Thompson Executive Leadership Academy for Texas Superintendents. Less than 20 superintendents across the state attend annually, and must be nominated and accepted in order to attend. The Board unanimously approved the meeting date adjustment.
