Bobcat Nation,

Given the rapidly evolving situation with COVID-19, Celina ISD will extend the suspension of normal district operations through Friday, April 3rd, in an effort to support our nation’s need to slow the spread of the novel coronavirus, or COVID-19.  Our health officials report that cases are continuing to spread throughout the state, and an increase in confirmed cases in our county seems likely. Suspending operations for this length of time will allow us to determine, in coordination with local health officials, whether the virus is continuing to impact communities or whether it has been contained.  We continue to be in contact with other school districts in our area and will use the week of March 30th to make any decisions on whether there is a need to extend the suspension further. To provide a sense of possible impact in order to help you prepare: If there is a need to continue the suspension at that time, it would likely be for at least 3 more weeks beyond April 3rd.

During this suspension, Celina ISD will transition to remote learning, which will begin on Monday, March 23rd and will continue for the duration of this closure. Our Technology Department is in the process of preparing devices for students that do not have access to technology at home.  Our Curriculum Directors will be providing training and instruction for our faculty and staff as we continue to bring quality instruction to the students of Celina ISD. The district has worked diligently to follow the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention Guidelines,(CDC) outlined for all communities and school districts.  We ask that you take the following reasonable precautions to prevent the spread of this illness;

  • Practice social distancing by maintaining a 6 foot distance between you and others.
  • Wash your hands often with soap and water for at least 20 seconds. If soap and water are not available, use hand sanitizer.
  • Avoid touching your face, eyes, nose or mouth with unwashed hands. Cough into tissue or elbow.
  • Stay home if you are sick. Avoid contact with people who are sick.
  • Clean and disinfect frequently touched surfaces to include, tables, doorknobs, light switches, countertops, handles, desks, phones, keyboards, toilets, faucets, and sinks.

This is a quickly changing situation, and we will continue to monitor information and assess the conditions over the next three weeks.  We will provide weekly updates via our website, social media pages, School Messenger and/or email. As we begin to navigate these unchartered waters, we are filled with hope as we have witnessed those within our community stepping up and helping those in need.  We are blessed to live and work in this community and are especially appreciative of our CISD family that have graced us with your patience and understanding during this unsettling time. Our thoughts and prayers are with each and every one of you.
