Welcome to our beautiful, new school - Jerry and Linda Moore Middle School! I am honored to serve as the principal of MMS and want to strive to help our students and families experience "Moore excellence" throughout the year! We will focus on a community mindset all year, making sure all of our students get plugged into their school community as well as the community of Celina. One of the ways we are doing this is through our house system. The students have been sorted into six houses that collectively represent Moore Middle School and our Celina Bobcats. The houses give all students a smaller community within our larger community, and each student will try to earn points for his/her house by demonstrating the 10 BeMoore Essentials:
Answer respectfully when responding to an adult, such as “yes, ma’am” or “no, thank you.” Slang is not an appropriate response.
When someone is speaking, SLANT. (Sit up straight, Lean in, Ask questions, Nod your head, and Track the speaker)
Practice good manners. Use “please” and “thank you”, open and hold doors for others, if you bump into someone, say “excuse me”.
Enrich your environment by following school and classroom expectations regardless of who is present. (substitutes, guests, bus drivers, cafeteria workers, custodians, peers, etc.)
Have a growth mindset. When you make a mistake, accept responsibility, learn from it, and move on.
Treat and serve everyone with respect including respecting personal space, belongings, and word choices.
Transitions around campus should be orderly and efficient, always respecting the learning environment.
Care for our building and property of others. Clean up after yourself and leave the area better than you found it.
Prioritize your responsibilities.
The positive, supportive, cooperative environment at MMS makes it a safe place for students to challenge themselves, take academic risks, and learn from mistakes. We believe that we all grow when we are challenged. Therefore, it is important to challenge students so that they learn to persevere and accomplish more than they thought possible while maintaining a balance that is essential to social-emotional well-being.
I always strive to treat each child the way I would want my own children to be treated, and I appreciate your trust and support as we work together to make the 2022-23 school year a great year for our students! Go Bobcats!
