Celina ISD is continuing to monitor the winter weather that could potentially disrupt our normal operating procedures. In the event weather necessitates the closing of our district buildings, the district will make every effort to notify parents/guardians of any unexpected delays and/or closures as quickly as possible through the following communication venues:

School Messenger

The district will also utilize local television and radio stations to report delays and/or closures to include but not limited to, FOX4, WFAA 8, NBC 5, KTVT/Channel 11, KXII/Channel 12, 94.9FM/KLTY, KRLD-Am, and 98.7 KLUV.

As a reminder, Monday, February 15th, is currently scheduled as a student holiday.

For Tuesday, February 16th – If weather conditions continue to necessitate the closing of our district, all district buildings/offices will be closed for the day.

If the weather prevents opening schools safely for Wednesday the 17th and/or Thursday the 18th: 

Student learning will be conducted through remote learning for all students. Remote learning will continue until weather conditions allow for a safe return to school. Attendance will be taken each day, and teachers will communicate to students/families with directions for accessing online resources. We recognize that some students may have limited computer or wifi access, and impacted students will have the opportunity to finalize assignments when we return to in-person learning.

  • Secondary schools will communicate regarding A/B scheduled days.
  • Virtual learning will be largely asynchronous; however, teachers will meet with students often throughout the day to check for progress and to communicate with students.
    • Any synchronous instruction will follow the student’s normal schedule
    • Synchronous learning would largely involve teachers checking in with students to answer questions, to provide support, and to determine needs

If the weather prevents opening schools safely past Thursday, a decision would be made on Thursday evening for student and staff procedures for Friday the 19th.

CISD will communicate by School Messenger at 6:00 PM each evening regarding future district delays and/or closures as the week progresses.
