Dear Celina Parents,
Due to a spike in lab-positive COVID-19 cases among students and staff across CISD, and due to the number of students and staff needing to be quarantined, the safety, fidelity, and integrity required of in-person instruction is being negatively impacted. As staff continue needing to quarantine, 70% of our substitute positions remain unfilled, and absence trends increase daily. Out of an abundance of caution for the health and safety of all students and staff, Celina ISD will move to all-virtual instruction beginning Monday, December 14th, through Friday, December 18th.
The health and safety of our students and staff remains our top priority, and we are committed to honoring our community’s interest in providing as normal a school experience as possible for our students. Our teachers and staff at each campus will work from school to provide virtual learning throughout the week. Student attendance will be taken each day, and teachers will work with students to complete current and missing assignments. Nine weeks and semester grades will close and be reported per the approved CISD grading schedule.
Grab-and-go lunches will be available for all Celina ISD students throughout the week. For those needing food services, pickup will be available at 12:00 p.m. at the high school campus and at 11:00 a.m. at all other CISD campuses. We recognize the additional burden being placed on our families at an already stressful time of year, and we appreciate our families and staff working together to help each child to be successful. We wish your family a happy and safe holiday, and we fully anticipate in-person learning to resume as regularly scheduled on January 6, 2021.
