This afternoon, City of Celina Police alerted the district of a possible active shooter in the area. The district was advised to initiate Shelter in Place protocol for the Lykins Elementary campus. Upon receiving updated information, the district activated Shelter in Place for all remaining campuses. All parents were notified through School Messenger. Celina High School was hosting a UIL high school marching band competition at Bobcat Stadium, and all participants were removed from the field of competition and placed in shelter, delaying the afternoon start of competition. The Shelter in Place was lifted for all schools in time to resume normal closing procedures under the watch of Celina ISD Police school resource officers. Celina ISD thanks Mayor Sean Terry, CISD Chief Manson, and the City of Celina Police Force for their continual updates throughout the day, which allowed us to initiate our security protocols. In addition to these officers, Celina ISD appreciates the assistance of Prosper ISD Police and Gunter ISD Police for their assistance keeping our students and faculty safe.
