Safety

Dear Bobcat Parents,

The month of May has always been filled with numerous end-of-year banquets, field days, year-end parties, and our seniors checking off their “last” experiences of high school. A few months ago, none of us could have predicted that our everyday lives would be so disrupted by a virus, but what we have accomplished in the wake of this disturbance is truly amazing. We are so proud of our students’ efforts to continue their learning as we all adjusted to a “new normal,” and I know you join me in thanking our teachers for carrying on the quality of instruction expected in Celina ISD.

Texas school districts are required to provide a minimum of 75,600 minutes of instruction each year. Celina ISD’s school calendar maintains additional minutes to provide our students a full learning experience despite the many days of instruction lost for required state testing. Again, we are proud of the hard work of our students and staff, yet we also understand that online learning through uncertain times has added stress to our families. Due to the cancellation of state testing this year, we have recaptured additional instructional time for online learning; thus, we are electing to forgo the minutes built into our 2019-2020 calendar above the required 75,600 minutes. Celina ISD will conclude online learning on May 15th, and during the week of May 18th, our campuses will work to accumulate remaining student work, collect school resources, systematically and safely allow parents to retrieve personal items from our campuses, and finalize semester grades. For more information on final grading guidelines, please visit: Celina ISD Grading Guidelines for At-Home Learning

Our district will continue to follow the guidelines issued by our Governor and local officials to determine procedures for parents to safely return school resources and collect their children’s personal belongings. Please know that all schools will have a plan unique to each individual campus layout and/or construction activity, and each campus will communicate to families during the week of May 11th, a campus plan for return/retrieval of resources.

Thank you for your continued support. Our families continue to inspire us with stories of resilience, and our students and staff show us each and every day what it means to be a Bobcat!

Sincerely,

Tom Maglisceau
