Bobcat Nation,

Governor Abbott’s recent press conference shared not only updates regarding the fight to contain COVID-19, but to also address the future educational plans for over 1200 school districts in the State of Texas. The Governor directed that districts across the state to include the Celina Independent School District, extend their current closures through Friday, May 1, 2020.

Governor Abbott stated that “the State of Texas is strong and our people, resilient.” This can be said of our Celina ISD family. The adaptability and resilience modeled by our faculty, our parents, and our students during these unprecedented times is inspiring! With the signing of this current executive order, remote learning, and food services will continue throughout the duration of this extension. With our closure now extending for another thirty days, all events scheduled during the month of April have been canceled and/or if possible, will be rescheduled during the month of May.

We must also remember that the City of Celina is currently under a Mandatory Stay-At-Home Order, which outlines approved and prohibited activities by residents of Celina, Texas. Please familiarize yourself and your family members with the information contained in this order. Social Distancing is still in effect as well as refraining from congregating in groups of 10 or more. The bottom line to all of this is to slow the spread of COVID-19.

With information being shared on a daily if not hourly basis, change has become our new norm. We must continue to keep the lines of communication open, ask for help, check on our neighbors and community members that may be at risk, and remain flexible during this unstable time. There are still many unknowns and potentially scary and uncertain times ahead, but we will face this future together. We’ve Got This Bobcats!
