Dear Wonderful Celina Jr. High Families,

Let me be the first to welcome you back for what is sure to be a fantastic school year for your child! Over the summer teachers and staff members have been attending professional development courses and have started working in their classrooms to get ready for each child that walks through their door.

I am honored to be the principal of Celina Jr. High School.  The excitement for education is intense throughout the school, and I am thrilled to get the opportunity to be a part of such an enjoyable environment. Every day is a great day to be a part of CISD and the CJH family! I am committed to serving our students and community in a cooperative and supporting way.

 

Important Message from CISD School Nurses

“It’s the Rule…Shots Before School!” Texas Dept. of State Health Services requires returning students be current with all required immunizations before the first day of school, Thursday, August 9, 2018. Students whose immunization records are incomplete—or do not have a current vaccination exemption certificate on file by the first day of school—will not be admitted to class. Students with incomplete shot records will not receive their class schedule or  Ipad. Should you have any questions, you can contact your pediatrician or the CJH school nurse, Mrs. Taylor Bullin.

Registration Fair

Students can pick up class schedules at the Registration Fair on August 2, 2018, with completed paperwork. On the subject of schedules, please understand that once school starts, schedule changes are complicated. We will not change schedules to adjust electives classes, and academic changes will only be made when essential for student academic success.

Ipad Pickup

Students can pick up and pay their Ipads fees on August 7, 2018, at CJH library. 8:00 am – 12:00 pm and 1:00 pm – 6:30 pm

Meet the Teacher Night

We are looking forward to seeing everyone at Meet the Teacher Night on Tuesday, August 14th from 6:00-7:30 pm  These relationship building opportunities for us to get to know one another better so we can help our students be successful.  When families participate in school-related activities, then students know that school is essential. This is also the perfect time to drop off your child’s’ school supplies, registration forms, meet your child’s specials teachers and tour the campus. Our dedicated PTA representatives will be available on this day. We hope you will consider joining our Celina PTA.

Communication and School Information

Our school website is an excellent place to visit to find up to date information about our events and our program requirements.  You will also find school supplies, arrival and dismissal times and staff information there. We will be using email and phone communication to send out reminders, so please be sure your contact information is always up to date with the school office. Please remember that every time you move, it is necessary you provide us with a new and valid proof of residency before we can update your information in our system or make any bus changes.

First Day of School

The first day of school is on Wednesday, August 16th.  Please do not park or block our fire lane.

Breakfast and Lunch Visitors

The first few weeks of school, we will be working on teaching school-wide expectations and establishing routines for success. We ask that parents wait until the second week of school before coming to eat breakfast or lunch with their child.

Breakfast and lunch visitors must check in at the front office. Visitors may sit with their child at the designated visitor tables.  Your child may invite one friend to sit with you. Please do not share any food or purchase any snacks for other students. Please do not take pictures or video of any children.

Arrival

Doors will open at 7:30 am. Students who eat breakfast will go to the cafeteria. All other students will be monitored in the gym until instructional time begins. There is no dropping off at the back of the gym area, and please follow the drop-off and pick-up procedures to ensure a safe area for our students.

Dismissal

For car riders pick up your child in the afternoon if they do not ride the bus in front of the school. Students will not be allowed to cross the street to the business parking lot. Students that are  walking home will exit through the front of the building.

    September 3rd:  Labor Day – No School

Principal’s Coffee – Monday, August 27

I would like to invite you to our upcoming Principal’s Coffee, on Monday, August 27 at 8:15 a.m. The Principal’s Coffee is a forum discussion for all 7th and 8th-grade parents to visit with me about the middle school experience over a cup of coffee. During the discussion, I will provide information about the overall 7th-grade and 8th-grade experience at Celina Jr. High and answer any questions you may have. Attending parents are encouraged to park in the front parking lot to enter and sign-in through the front office. Additional meetings will be held on September 26 and October 30.
