Welcome to Celina Primary School
Dear Wonderful Celina Primary Families:
It is with great excitement that on Wednesday, August 14th we open the doors of Celina Primary School once again for an amazing year of teaching, learning, building friendships, and creating memories that will last a lifetime.
Meet the Teacher Night
We are looking forward to seeing everyone at Meet the Teacher Night on Monday, August 12th from 4:00-6:00 P.M. We have limited parking on our campus, so we have staggered Meet the Teacher Night times. Students with last names A-L are encouraged to come meet their teacher between 4:00-5:00 PM. Students with last names that begin with M-Z are encouraged to come meet their teacher from 5:00-6:00 PM. This is also the perfect time to drop off your child’s’ school supplies, registration forms, meet your child’s specials teachers, and tour the campus. Our dedicated PTA representatives will also be available on this day. We hope you will consider joining our Celina PTA.
All students enrolled in a Texas Public School are held to all Texas Education Code rules, including Compulsory Attendance. This means that students must come to school, as they are able, and parents – that is where you play the most important role!
If you choose to enroll your child in public school, attendance at school is mandatory, not optional. This includes arriving at school on time. There is no “grace time” allowed, so please make sure you plan for an on-time arrival at school every day. We know sickness and emergencies arise, please notify the school of any absence and follow up with a written note upon the child’s return to school. If you have a question about attendance – please ask! Although Texas Education Code is important, it is even more important to have your child present every day so he or she can learn!
Communication and School Information
Our school website is a good place to visit to find up to date information about our events and our program requirements. You will also find school supplies, arrival and dismissal times, and staff information there. We will be using email and phone communication to send out reminders, so please be sure your contact information is always up to date with the school office. Please remember that every time you move, it is necessary you provide us with a new and valid proof of residency before we are able to update your information in our system or make any bus changes.
First Day of School
The first day of school is on Wednesday, August 14th. We welcome and encourage parents to park and walk their student directly to class on the first day of school. Please do not park or block our fire lane. After you drop your child off, please join Celina PTA members and other parents for a cup of coffee at the PTA’s Boohoo and Woohoo event in the cafeteria at 8:00 A.M.
Breakfast and Lunch
Breakfast and lunch are served daily in our school cafeteria. Students may purchase a breakfast for $1.75 between 7:25 AM – 7:55 AM. A school lunch may be purchased for $2.75. Students may also purchase snack items for an additional $1.00 Monday thru Thursday. On Fridays, the cafeteria will be selling ice-cream for $1. On short weeks, ice-cream is sold on the last day of that week. Students not wishing to purchase lunch at school may bring lunch from home.
No Breakfast or Lunch Visitor Until August 26th
The first few weeks of school, we will be working on teaching school-wide expectations and establishing routines for success. We ask that parents wait until after the second week of school before coming to eat breakfast or lunch with their child. Lunch visitors are welcome beginning on Monday, August 26th.
Breakfast and Lunch Visitor Guidelines
Breakfast and lunch visitors must check in at the front office. Visitors may sit with their child at the designated visitor tables. Your child may invite one friend to sit with you. Please do not share any food or purchase any snacks for other students. Taking pictures or video of students is prohibited.
Morning Student Drop Off
Beginning on the 2nd day of school, we will start normal arrival procedures. Doors will open at 7:25 A.M. Students who eat breakfast will be escorted to the cafeteria. All other students will be monitored in the gym until instructional time begins. You may drop off your student by parking in the front and walking them to the front door or you may drop them off in the carpool line located on the north side of the building. If dropping off in the carpool line, please remain in your car and a staff member will help your child out and walk them to the gym.
There are two ways to pick up your child in the afternoon if they do not ride the bus. Walker pick up will take place at the front entrance of the school. Car rider pick up will take place in the north side of the building. All persons picking up a student must show a school issued student pick up sign. If you forget your sign, you will need to come into the front office and show proper identification before a student may be released to you. Please share your child’s dismissal preference with his or her teacher. Any dismissal changes must be communicated to the front office no later than 30 minutes before dismissal time. If you arrive after 7:55 A.M. you will need to park your car, come inside the front office and sign your child in as arriving tardy.
