Pre-Kindergarten Program Information

Pre-Kindergarten Program (PK)

Celina ISD will be offering an all-day Pre-K program for *qualifying students.

Please note the following information regarding our Pre-K program.

  1. The Pre-K program is for qualifying students who are four (4) years old on or before September 1st of the school year in which they will be attending Pre-K. Students who are 5 years old on or before September 1st, would attend Kindergarten. See qualifying criteria in the section below.
  2. Tuition only spots are not available at this time.
  3. The program is a full day program. Students will attend school from 7:55 am until 3:25 pm.
  4. The Pre-K program will be housed at the Celina Primary School campus.
  5. Transportation is provided for those living 2 miles or more away from the campus.
  6. Breakfast and/or lunch will be served. Students can bring their lunches and may bring snacks.

Celina ISD follows the State of Texas guidelines by offering tuition-free Pre-K programs. Students must be four (4) years of age by September 1st of the school year to qualify and must live within Celina ISD school boundaries. In addition, the child must meet one or more the following criteria:

  1. unable to speak and comprehend the English language. Parents will complete a home language survey and students will be tested to determine Limited English Proficiency, or
  2. be educationally disadvantaged. Parent will need to provide a copy of their W-2 forms, two most recent pay stubs, and any other documentation of income (see chart below) or,

  3. be homeless. Parents must complete the required district documentation and wait for approval from the district homeless education liaison, or
  4. be the child or stepchild of an active-duty member of the armed forces of the United States, including the state military forces or a reserved component of the armed forces, who is ordered to active duty by proper authority (military ID is required), or
  5. be the child or stepchild of a member of the armed forces of the United States, including the state military forces or a reserved component of the armed forces, who was injured or killed while serving on active duty (documentation is required), or
  6. has ever been in the conservatorship of the Texas DFPS (foster care system) following an adversary hearing. Foster parent must provide letter from DFPS declaring eligibility.

    In addition to completing new student registration forms, the following documents will be needed in order to register: I
  • Copy of Birth Certificate
  • Copy of Social Security Card – optional If social security number is not available, the student will be assigned a state identification number.
  • Proof of Residence - Copy of utility bill, rental or lease agreement. For more information on Proof of Residence, please see below.

Proof of Residency must be established before the first day of school.

  • Copy of parent/guardian government issued photo ID (driver's license or picture ID)
  • Copy of Immunization Records (all shots must be current to register)
  • Proper documentation for qualifying for tuition-free preschool (see notes above) 

    Proof of Residency:

Each student must show proof of residency within the Celina ISD school boundaries annually. Proof of residency must be established before the first day of school each year.

  • A copy of a current water or electric bill. Must include the parent/guardian name, current date, and physical address of the residence.
  • If renting or leasing, the district must be provided a copy of the rental/lease agreement. Must include the parent/guardian name, current date, and physical address of the residence.
  • If buying or building, the district must be provided a copy of the contract showing the completion/closing date of the residence. If residency is not established before the date of enrollment, superintendent approval will be required. Parents will need to contact the Celina ISD administration offices for transfer student paperwork. Tuition fees may apply depending upon the actual move-in date.
