Police Bulletin - Traffic Safety

Celina ISD is committed to the safety of our parents and students at all of our campuses. We appreciate your cooperation in addressing a safety concern at the Middle School and Junior High campuses during drop off and pick up times.

The safety concern regards drivers that are attempting to enter the drop off/pick up lanes from unauthorized lanes on FM455 (Pecan). Presently, there are only two lanes on FM455 where drivers are authorized to enter the campus to drop off or pick up.

Traveling west bound on FM455, drivers are allowed to turn right from the westbound shoulder (shaded in green) into the driveway (shaded in yellow). Under no circumstance may drivers enter the driveway from the westbound lane (shaded in red) once the carpool lanes have started to move

Drivers may legally drive on the eastbound shoulder to turn right into the Athletic Facility and/or to pass vehicles waiting to turn left from the eastbound lane. If passing stopped vehicles while driving on the shoulder, drivers must re-enter the eastbound lane as soon as it is safe to do so and proceed straight towards Preston Road.

Additionally, drivers cannot cross the double yellow lines (no passing zone) to pass eastbound vehicles in order to make a left turn into our campus.

Drivers must remain vigilant to traffic from both directions when turning into our campus. Make sure that oncoming traffic is aware of your intentions by using turn signals and making eye contact with fellow drivers. Observing proper protocol and traffic laws during these congested times of day can significantly decrease the potential for accidents involving our parents and/or students to occur.

Thank you,
